Dr. Moretti is a clinical psychologist, having trained at the University of Chicago (M.A., Human Development and Personality Processes), and at Loyola University Chicago (Ph.D., Clinical Psychology). Following this, he completed further training in analytical psychology, becoming certified as a Jungian analyst (C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago).  He has been in practice for over 30 years, working with adults and couples. As a psychotherapist, he uses both Jungian analytic and cognitive methods (such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), tailoring the approach to the individual's needs.

In addition to the the broad approaches listed above, Dr. Moretti has had a career-long interest in applying mindfulness meditation methods and dream work to various problems.  He also uses methods such as hypnosis, relaxation training, and desensitization where indicated.

Dr. Moretti holds academic appointment as Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, where he formerly directed the program in Health Psychology.  He also serves on the faculties of the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago and the Jung Center of Evanston, where he regularly presents  programs on topics of interest to both the lay public and professionals.  Other professional memberships include the International Association for Analytical Psychology,  the American Psychological Association, and the Illinois Psychological Association.
